Kingdom Partners Global
Every time we think we are finished with the paperwork and have Kingdom Partners Global up and running, we get a letter from IRS or State of Wisconsin about unemployment insurance or workman's comp insurance or we are missing some forms… One would think that they could develop a more streamlined approach! Also, that the Federal Government would communicate with the State Government. So we just keep filling stuff out and sending it in. A special thank you goes out to David Johnson for helping me navigate all these forms.
Moving into the Fall is kind of like starting the new year according to church calendars and school calendars. This summer is the first summer that I have not been involved in a missions trip. It was a very wise decision based on all that was going on at home with Koral getting married and moving to England shortly afterwards and John and Marie visiting the U.S. for the month of August. I also took a trip with my brothers to spread my Dad’s ashes. Needless to say, it’s Go Time……
Allies
A few years ago I thought I was moving on from Youth Ministry. Yet instead of that happening, I am now hands-on with two youth groups: I’m a sponsor at my brother Matt’s church, The Tabernacle, where I work along side our son-in-law David and our daughter Kellie, which I have done for years, and now I also am working with Living Light Christian Church, the church where we are members, along side our son David and his wife Amy. Living Light has a new youth leader so I am there to help with the transition and do whatever is needed. Both Racine and Kenosha youth Allies groups are in full swing. (Racine takes a break for the summer and Kenosha meets as best they can around the busy summer schedules of the Youth Pastors.)
Senior Pastor Allies continues to move forward. God has really been speaking about unity and the Churches coming together. Psalms 133 has been highlighted to us several times by various people.
Psalm 133 says…
1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.
3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.
We are committed to praying for our city and each other weekly and are eager to see what the Lord is going to do through this group.
On August 5th, Acts Church (a predominantly African American church) and The Tabernacle (a predominantly white church) came together for the second “One Voice,” a joint Sunday service. This one was held outside down at the lakefront, with a BBQ and games immediately following the service. The service concluded with baptisms. Some of the baptisms were prescheduled and others were spontaneous, it was amazing. This was a time for the church to come together to give praise and glory to God with “One Voice”. It was a major step forward on the unity front for Kenosha, at a time when our nation is racked with racial tension and strife. And while I had no specific part in the actual service, I was able to attend, and my work with the Allies has helped to set the foundation for the two churches coming together. I feel that this was another step forward in the unity process of the church of Kenosha.
Family Update:
Question - What does it take to save a $1000.00 on your car insurance?
Answer - Marry off your daughter and have her move out of the country.
There has got to be a better and easier way to save money! Koral is now Married! It’s as I have said before, “It’s the day that Daddies dread and little girls dream of.” August 18th was an amazing day and things went amazingly smoothly. It’s crazy to think that both Koral and Divan were born in Africa! He in South Africa and she in Kenya. The service was live streamed since so many family members across the country and the world could not attend. It was the day Koral dreamed of, and she was swept off her feet by her knight in shining armor. Everyone was Oh, so happy, (well, almost everyone). It was extremely hard to say goodbye when she walked out of the church not knowing when we would she her again, because she was moving across the pond to England. Koral and Divan are residing in Taunton, England, about 20 minutes away from John and Marie in Wellington, England. Although it is hard, we take comfort in the fact that this is how we raised our children: to grow up, leave our home and follow God wherever He may lead, no matter what. So in the midst of our sadness, we know that it’s the right thing that needed to happen.
The end of August was a chance for me to get away with my 3 brothers and good friend John for a week. We traveled to Northern MN to the BWCA (Boundary Waters Canoe Area) where there are no motors allowed. We had to paddle all of our food and equipment in and portage from lake to lake. We also cooked over the open fire. It was fantastic! I felt like a real Lewis and Clark. We spent a lot of time canoeing and fishing and enjoying being away from civilization and people. It was also an emotional time as we took the opportunity to spread our Dad’s ashes at his favorite fishing lake. It was a great week, but also a physically grueling one, though well worth it. It had been over 40 years since I had been to those specific lakes. I love spending time in God’s beautiful creation.
