Feeding Africa
Hey, guys and gals, I just wanted to get an update out on the Feeding Africa Program before the snow begins to fall and the temperatures begin to plummet here while our brothers and sisters in the area of Kenya benefiting from this program experience their hottest months being on the opposite side of the equator from where we are.
As of October 30th, we have served 808,960 meals. Wow! Well over 3/4 million meals served, and approximately 1,000 people kept from starvation, praise God! Thank you to those who have given regularly…monthly, quarterly and yearly…as well as those of you who have given one-time gifts to support the feeding of those who are in need. We are blessed and honored to walk this path with you.
Reports continue to roll in of the recipients’ gratefulness, and we just want to pass the Thank You’s on to you, so THANK YOU (in Kiswahili, they would say, “Asante Sana”)! They tell us that every week they have to turn people and families away who have heard of the program and wish to join in.
We currently have a negative balance in the Feeding Africa program, but we have been able to cover it with other Kingdom Partners Global (KPG) monies. If the Lord is tugging at your heart to help support these needy moms and their children, please click the Donate To Feeding Africa link at the bottom of this update. You can either give a one-time gift or set up monthly giving. $7 feeds a person for a month, and $50 can feed a family for a month. 100% of all that is given for the Feeding Africa program goes to feeding, we keep nothing. Would you please consider asking God if He would have you invest in these lives?
I also want to say again that since the early part of 2021, we have cut the programs in half financially instead of discontinuing them. Starting April of 2020, we were providing 2 meals each day and beginning in February of 2021, we had to reduce that to 1 meal each day in order to keep the programs afloat. We have told those running the programs and those in the programs that we will continue as long as God continues to provide the means or until they no longer have a need for the assistance. Their areas are already poverty stricken and were hit hard by the distancing and curfews and are only recently making a very slow come back. One thing hindering that comeback is the higher cost of food and fuel.
Travel
October has been an awesome month for me and ministry with KPG. The first week of October had me traveling to California with three other pastors to a conference called The Thrive Conference. It was the first time I have been able to fly since the pandemic started. The conference was good, and I was able to minister to and encourage the pastors I was with along with others we met, and be encouraged by them. The highlight of the trip actually happened during our 2 1/2 hours of free time. We traveled 20 minutes to the state capital in Sacramento, where I was able to bring God’s truth and pray in the State Assembly of California for the state of California, through a very crazy set of circumstances. The video below shows me in a tent that was set up just outside the capital building for people not wanting to enter the California Assembly due to COVID, but wanting to or needing to address the State Assembly. It is very sad that as soon as I finished praying, they cut the feed and ended the session. One of the pastors checked the California State Assembly Media Archives and they did not cut out my prayer, it is on permanent record in the State archives closing out the session.
City-Wide Worship Night & Evangelism
Evangelism Training on Saturday at Immanuel
Greg Stier of Dare2Share Ministries
On Friday, Oct 29th, we had another city-wide worship night with approximately 300 people at a church building called The Encounter. There were at least 6 churches in attendance that night. The worship was led with a combined worship team from Living Light Christian Church, Acts Church (which is now One Voice Church), and Immanuel Church Kenosha. One of my friends, Greg Stier, from Dare to Share Ministries also shared an amazing talk from the scriptures and his own life on revival and evangelism during the worship night.
An Evangelism Training day was held on Saturday, Oct. 30th, in conjunction with the worship night. We trained in the morning and hit the streets of Kenosha in the afternoon to pray for people and share the good news of Jesus Christ. There were 95 adults at the training session, almost 1/3 of those who had attended the worship night. Praise God that His Good News is going out! It was awesome to have that many adults sharing their faith all at the same time.
One Voice Church
Then on Sunday, October 31st, One Voice Church (OVC) launched in Kenosha. There were 84 people in attendance! OVC is a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church. One Voice was basically formed as part of a white church and part of a black church coming together for three reasons: obedience to God, the multi-ethnic church model of the Bible, and the ability to better reach our community with the Gospel. One Voice has been in the hearts of its leaders since the Lord laid it on their hearts in 2018. Tammy and I have met with our Living Light church leaders, and they have commissioned us to be part of One Voice and help them get this church plant off the ground. They see our multi-ethnic family and the maturity of our Christian walk as very helpful tools for One Voice Church as it takes off. One Voice is under the leadership of One Church Ministries who also oversees the Living Light Churches. So we will still be in the same family of churches. The name for OVC comes from Romans 15:5-6:
“May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with ONE VOICE, giving praise and glory to God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
One Voice Church is a very fitting name given what they are called to do. As we were in the worship service on Sunday morning, God gave me two pictures. The first was the first star in the evening sky and the second was the spark that starts the blazing fire. In those pictures, God impressed on me that these are both beginnings. The first star is the beginning of the night and the spark the beginning of a blazing fire, just as this was the first day or the birth of One Voice. Stars are used for navigating and so One Voice will guide many in Kenosha to God’s truths and help them navigate life. Just as fires are used for warmth and comfort, so will One Voice provide comfort and safety to many in Kenosha. It was very encouraging to hear from the Lord in this way.
Prayer Request
Please continue to pray for Kenosha as the Kyle Rittenhouse trial began on November 2nd. Kyle was the 17-year-old who shot and killed two others and wounded a third during the Kenosha riots in August 2020. The trial verdict has the potential to reopen old wounds and restoke violence. It is our prayer that Peace reigns in Kenosha and that violence and hate would be overcome. This city’s only hope is Jesus.
